Susan Feniger’s Street

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

One of my favorite restaurants this summer has been the brand-new Street in Hollywood. The food is inspired by food sold on streets around the world, and accordingly, Street has a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Most of the time owner and gracious host Susan Feniger is buzzing around to make sure everyone is experiencing the restaurant the way she planned it, and she’s graciously assisted by Marisa, Kajsa, Jen and the rest of team. There are so many different tasty bites from around the world that I recommend the Globe Trot, a tasting menu where you get to sample a little something from every continent. And be sure not to miss any of the fabulous cocktails. The majority of the space is outdoors, which is very pleasant for the warm LA evenings we’ve been having lately. 742 N. Highland, 323.203.0500

Nook Bistro

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

Should you decide to have someone else do the cooking this year, try Nook, a wonderful modern bistro on the Westside. They have a fantastic menu especially for Valentine’s Day (although I don’t know how they could make it better than it always is), and a classy room that’s the perfect vibe for a romantic getaway on any day of the year. Nook was also recently given Michelin’s “Bib Gourmand“ rating, meaning it’s a great meal at a great price. They even serve delicious and affordable wine like the McManis Petite Syrah, which I discovered there and highly recommend. 11628 Santa Monica Blvd, 310.207.5160
