My choice of their fine fare is some thing from their extensive menu of fresh seasonal fish. Relax on their newly-added patio, and you’re sure to enjoy the perfect summer dining experience. The owners are three charming clients of mine—George, Albert, and Robert—and if you tell them you heard about Le Petit Bistro from Taboo, dessert is on them—with a kiss on both cheeks, of course!

We like Chefs, Inc., a great local culinary school. Chefs, Inc. especially caters to the younger set, offers a kids camp for those children you can’t keep out of the kitchen, and a beginning culinary program just for teens. There’s also a whole variety of classes for adults, from healthy cooking techniques to mastering knife skills. To celebrate, Evan’s having several festive events in January. There will be a kid-friendly pizza and pasta party from 12-4pm, then a grand, grownup dinner under the stars starting at 7:30pm. In the meantime, drop in to the restaurant between now and 2010 to congratulate Evan and enjoy three-course dinners for $25. The food is inspired by food sold on streets around the world, and accordingly, Street has a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Most of the time owner and gracious host Susan Feniger is buzzing around to make sure everyone is experiencing the restaurant the way she planned it, and she’s graciously assisted by Marisa, Kajsa, Jen and the rest of team. There are so many different tasty bites from around the world that I recommend the Globe Trot, a tasting menu where you get to sample a little something from every continent. And be sure not to miss any of the fabulous cocktails. The majority of the space is outdoors, which is very pleasant for the warm LA evenings we’ve been having lately. 742 N.

Summer is finally here so let’s sit down for a moment and strategize about this season’s hair. This year I’m all about wash-and-wear. With the right cut, color and products you can transition from shower, beach or pool by simply running a comb through your hair. Amy (left) is keeping her hair long this summer so she can pull it back at the beach and for swimming. So I freshened her layers and Aaron added a subtle array of tourmaline and sea sand throughout, creating an ultra low-maintenance sparkle similar to the highlight found in children’s hair. See? It’s just that easy. In fact it’s so easy, we’ll give you 10% when you get a cut and color together on any weekday in June or July. This deal is for newsletter subscribers only, so be sure to mention when you book!

To protect the hair from drying out in the sun we recommend the Day Sun Pak and Sun Protection Spray by Davines, which are great for poolside or after shampoo. Both products rinse out leaving no residue and—with a little twisting technique; ask your stylist to show you—they also function as leave in styling aids, enhancing the natural movement of your hair. So bask the hours away knowing that your hair is protected. If you’re traveling this summer, we have a special Davines’ travel-size shampoo-and-conditioner set. One of these sets is our gift to you when you buy a set of regular-sized products (shampoo, conditioner and styling product). Come see us before it gets too warm so you can ditch the blow dryers and flat irons and enjoy an entire season of cool, manageable hair. Call us at 323.655.3770 or drop us an email at reception@taboohaircare.com to make an appointment today.

Cheers,
Gill Hodgson
