As we rang in the new decade I made my own resolution: To give all who are willing a brand new look! I looked around me and started off with those closest at hand, and before I knew it, my daughter Lucie, my husband Michael and our receptionist Ann all had new ’dos. Fall Colors

As we slip into fall (oh-so-subtly here in Southern California) the stubbornly-unchanging leaves make me long for fall colors: Think rusty auburns, deep golds and mahogany browns. Hair color for fall shifts accordingly, from lighter sunny shades to warmer, richer tones. Blondes go warmer using honey and strawberry tones. Redheads add copper gold and strawberry. Brunettes add richer tones of toffee, chestnut, chocolate and espresso. These slight but very stunning variations can all be achieved with a technique we call toning lights. This is a process where slices of subtly-varying, jewel-like tones are added throughout the hair. We’re offering 50% off this fabulous service for October or November.

Summer Highlights

Summer is coming to a dry, smoky end that’s going to leave our hair lifeless and flat. So it’s time to recapture some of that pre-summer moisture and pump new life into into those post-summer highlights. The Heat is On

One of the things keeping us busy is a new service that our lovely Jovan is specializing in. It’s called the Brazilian Blow Out, and it’s a new hair-controlling treatment. Unlike the Japanese straightening treatment, a Brazilian Blow Out is less permanent: It lasts from 2-4 months and leaves the hair in better condition than before because we add keratin. Summer is finally here so let’s sit down for a moment and strategize about this season’s hair. This year I’m all about wash-and-wear. With the right cut, color and products you can transition from shower, beach or pool by simply running a comb through your hair. Amy (left) is keeping her hair long this summer so she can pull it back at the beach and for swimming. The return of daylight savings has added a little spring to my step as we head into my favorite time of year here at Taboo. I love spotting the little bursts of color popping out all over the city on my drive down to the salon. With spring springing forth, why not try a color gloss treatment?
